​Helena is a dedicated filmmaker with an adventurous spirit. She's a director member of the "Alliance of Women Directors" based in Los Angeles. Previously, she worked for China Global TV as a documentary director / producer for over a decade.

Currently, Helena is assisting Oscar-nominated director / producer Matia Karrell on a feature documentary “Coming Home: Fight for a Legacy” about WWII woman aviators in the US. She has shadowed her in the production of Drama Series "Best Mistake Ever". Helena is directing a feature documentary on Grandmaster Dong Jin Kim for JTR Jujutsu International, and producing an allegorical feature drama "Fallout" for RMK films.

Born in a small town in China, Helena was a tomboy who enjoyed swimming in rivers, climbing trees, and defending justice. She obtained her master's degree in English literature from Beijing Foreign Studies University.

Helena began her career as a journalist. She covered the massive Wenchuan Earthquake (Magnitude 7.9). She was running for her life with hundreds of soldiers on the warning of a dam collapsing.

Between 2012 and 2019, Helena served as the producer for a documentary series "FACES OF AFRICA", collaborating with production companies from Africa and Europe. The team produced 200 episodes across 30 countries featuring a wide range of characters from street children of Rwanda to Nelson Mandela.

The series reached millions of viewers. Michael Donovan, former AP Bureau Chief at Johannesburg commented: “It’s easy to think of Africa as a place framed by war, poverty and disease...FACES OF AFRICA... provides a refreshing antidote to the stale old clichés.” The show has been recognized worldwide by organizations including
UNESCO, The Independent, Outside Magazine, Villanova University, Gapeli Action (Switzerland) and The Borgen Project.

In 2015, Helena directed "When Chinese Meet Zambians” garnering 2.9 million views on YouTube. Part of the story was quoted and aired on “Global Mosaic” of PBS SoCal. In 2020, her film "The Island" won “Best Medium Documentary” at the Heritales Film Festival in Portugal.

In 2023, Helena obtained her second master's degree in film from ArtCenter College of Design. Her psychological short, "The Counseling" has been widely recognized by film festivals in the US and Canada.
